Rev. C. Alexis Talbott is clear that God's heart for First St. Cloud United Methodist Church is to touch the St. Cloud community in a way that transforms lives through sharing the love of Jesus and that God has called Alexis to St. Cloud to be a part of that transformation. Pastor Alexis believes, "Church is all about unity in Christ Jesus. Young and old alike are to be involved in all areas of worship and ministry. We can be full of joy, dignified and fun all at the same time while giving glory to God and preparing hearts to be changed."
Pastor Alexis comes from a long line of pastors. She is seventh generation. Many of her forbearers started churches in Arkansas and Mississippi. They preached in the south, in Baltimore and in Florida. Her conviction is that traditional liturgy blended with a contemporary style will create an atmosphere in worship that will often lead to a meaningful and life changing experience.
Pastor Talbott has been in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church since 1992. She graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor of Arts and went on to receive a Masters of Divinity at Drew Theological School in Madison, New Jersey. She served in Branford, Florida, 1992-1996, and in Bartow, Florida, 1995-2002. In 2003, Pastor Talbott took a year to explore growing and healthy ministries throughout the country. She observed churches in Kansas City, Oregon, Connecticut, Baltimore and Oahu, and stayed six weeks in a monastery in Oregon. She brings a rich experience to the St. Cloud community.
Pastor Alexis' parents are retired from the local church ministry and are living in Jacksonville, Florida. Her sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Steve and their two sons, also live in Jacksonville.
